A day after he was questioned by the anti-corruption branch in a case related to the alleged Rs 400-crore water tanker scam, Delhi water minister Kapil Mishra on Tuesday in a letter to lieutenant-governor Najeeb Jung recommended registering an FIR against Mr Jung himself and ACB chief Mukesh Kumar Meena for unnecessary delay of two years in investigation four pen-ding cases of corruption against Sheila Dikshit.

Mr Mishra, in his letter, reminded Mr Jung that the ACB had registered four FIRs at the instance of the then government of NCT of Delhi, for the Bhagirathi WTP Rehab Project, Non-AMR Meter Scam, AMR Meter and CWG Streetlights Scams. “In any alleged delay in on the part of the government in referring the matter to the anti-corruption branch or in taking any action in pursuance to any report further to it by a committee, is a sufficient ‘cause of action’ for the ACB to register an FIR. By the same analogy, an FIR is required to be registered against the chief of the anti-corruption branch as well as the lieutenant-governor (since the ACB reports to the L-G) for not taking any action on the FIRs registered in the year 2014,” Mr Mishra wrote.
