Junior doctor found dead at AIIMS
A junior resident doctor, suspected to be a drug addict, at All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his hostel room on Thursday morning. The exact cause of his death is yet to be ascertained, but the police has not ruled out the possibility of suicide and over dose of drugs.
The incident was reported by the hospital authorities after a decomposed body was found inside a hostel room. When a police team reached the spot, the deceased, identified as Kumar Kunal (34), was lying on the bed. His body has been kept in the mortuary. The deceased was pursuing post-graduation in medicine department of AIIMS and was staying in junior resident hostel in Masjid Moth area.
The matter came to light when Kunal’s colleagues queried the hostel warden about his whereabouts as he had not been seen for the past three days. When warden informed them that Kunal did not came out of his room from past few days, his colleagues, along with the hostel warden, went to his room and found that the door was locked from inside.
Further, the hospital security was informed and they broke open the door of his room. His semi-decomposed body was found lying on the bed.
“The body was found on the bed and the room was bolted from inside. There were no injury marks on his body. So far, investigations have revealed that he was not eating since the last three days and was also not seen during the same period,” the official said.
“His family members, friends and colleagues are being questioned to know the cause of his death. The call details of his cellphone are being scanned,” the official said.
