Jung saved people linked to Khan murder: Arvind Kejriwal

Taunting lieutenant-governor Najeeb Jung with whom he is locked in a bitter confrontation over a host of issues, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday asked him to get the Delhi government

Taunting lieutenant-governor Najeeb Jung with whom he is locked in a bitter confrontation over a host of issues, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday asked him to get the Delhi government’s solar policy probed by the anti-corruption branch or the CBI since it has received “worldwide acclaim.”

“The (solar) policy is being discussed throughout the world. Greenpeace has praised it. Even UN climate change body has termed it as a big step. Please conduct a CBI raid on Delhi power minister Satyendar Jain by telling Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Mr Kejriwal wrote in a new letter to the lieutenant-governor.

This comes a day after the AAP chief had written a letter to the lieutenant-governor wherein he had remarked that Mr Modi would never make Mr Jung the vice-president of India. In the open letter to Mr Jung, the chief minister also accused him of “saving” BJP MP Maheish Girri and NDMC vice-chairman Karan Singh Tanwar in the case of murder of M.M. Khan, an official of the NDMC.

On Khan’s murder, Mr Kejriwal went on to allege that Mr Jung had “beautifully” saved Mr Girri and Mr Tanwar from questioning by the police which, he said, must have “pleased” Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Now Modiji is fully assured that no matter how much goondaism BJP men partake in, no one will be able to bend a hair. You will save them. And you will keep on framing Aam Aadmi Party by lodging false cases,” the chief minister said.

However, Mr Girri dared Mr Kejriwal to prove the charges or quit politics. He said if Mr Kejriwal has the courage, he should prove his allegations. “If he manages to prove them, then I will quit politics, otherwise he should do so...”

“I have absolutely no connection with the case. It just happened that I was in the LG’s office when a person had come with some documents related to the case. I did not bring that complainant. These are diversionary tactics to deflect attention from the parliamentary secretary issue,” Mr Girri said.
