Hours after apprising lieutenant-governor Najeeb Jung on the simmering JNU row, Delhi police commissioner Bhim Sain Bassi on Monday said that they are verifying all video clips used in the probe of the sedition case. “We always verify whatever footage we use in a probe. The footages in our possession have been sent for verification,” the top cop said when asked about the authenticity of the videos. On whether the police will enter the JNU premises to arrest the accused, the police chief said that the DCP (South) Prem Nath, heading the probe, will take a decision. Earlier in the day, before meeting the LG, Mr Bassi asked the five students to “join the investigations and prove their innocence.” “It was a routine meeting between the commissioner and the L-G in which the latter was briefed about the ongoing JNU row,” a senior police officer said.

The Delhi police on Monday also appealed to the public not to pay heed to some unscrupulous elements who are spreading rumours about mishandling of students from Jammu and Kashmir during the simmering JNU row.
