JMC helpdesks for filling university, college forms

With a change in the admission process by Delhi University (DU) this year, the authorities of Jesus and Mary College (JMC) have initiated a separate helpdesk to provide technical assistance to students for filling up both the university and JMC’s registration forms.

According to the new admission process, students seeking admission in JMC are required to undergo a dual process of registration for various undergraduate courses from this year. But unlike St. Stephen’s College, JMC will not be conducting any interviews or tests for selecting their students. All the candidates will be selected purely on the basis of merit.

“Since the admission process has been centralised this year, the students aspiring to join JMC will have to first fill up a university form for which they will receive a university number. This number has to be used on JMC’s online portal to further fill up the college form. As the entire process can be quite complicated, we have set up helpdesks within the campus to assist students in completing the process with ease,” stated Rusha Chugh, the officiating principal of JMC.

Furthermore, the college is also conducting counselling sessions in order to provide guidance to students for choosing the right course and career path. “JMC has been conducting counselling sessions of its own from Monday to Friday, 9 to 11 in the morning. These sessions are not just meant for the students seeking admission in our college, but also for those who are unable to make a decision. These sessions will also help students in choosing the right course. For instance, JMC provides 13 different combinations of programmes under the B.A. course. Our sessions will guide them choose a course based on their interest and merit,” the principal added.

JMC also conducts its own trials for students desirous of seeking admission under the sports and extra curricular activity (ECA) quotas.
