Jamia Millia Islamia University students protest against police ‘raid’

Scores of Jamia Millia Islamia University students on Saturday staged a protest in the campus alleging that the Delhi police made surprise checks in their hostels without the varsity’s permission.

While the students dubb-ed them as raids, police officials denied these allegations and maintained that they were part of routine checks being conducted in that area ahead of Independence Day.

“This is a breach of students’ constitutional rights,” a protesting student said.
