Former BSP minister Hiralal Kashyap on Thursday threatened to immolate himself in front of Parliament if justice was denied to his daughter, Himanshi, daughter-in-law of Rajya Sabha MP Narendra Kashyap who allegedly committed suicide due to dowry harassment .
“The slogan of ‘Beti-Padhao, Beti-Bachao’ is raised in Parliament whereas an MP’s daughter-in-law is murdered... If action is not taken against those guilty and my daughter is denied justice, I and my family will immolate ourselves before Parliament,” Mr Hiralal Kashyap told reporters after performing the last rites of his daughter here.
Alleging that Himanshi was killed by Mr Narendra Kashyap and his family over dowry, Hiralal said there were several injury marks on her body and her hair was also pulled indicating that she was beaten up before being killed.
The Rajya Sabha MP, along with his wife and son Sagar, the husband of Himanshi, was on Thursday arrested under anti-dowry laws as the police found “prima facie” complicity of the trio in “dowry harassment”.
Hiralal said that he came to know about the incident only through TV and his neighbours.
