Government to set up Kalam’s centre for knowledge
Delhi tourism minister Kapil Mishra on Tuesday said that the AAP government will set up “knowledge centre” in national capital in the memory of former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
The government’s move comes a few days after Kalam’s elder brother A.P.J.M. Maraikayar urged chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to set up “Kalam National Centre for Knowledge Discovery” in the city.
Mr Mishra said that the Delhi government has decided to bring Dr Kalam’s legacy, books and possessions to New Delhi.
“As per the family’s request, the Delhi government is ready to bring back all of Dr Kalam’s books and possessions that were sent away from his 10, Rajaji Marg residence in Delhi,” he said.
The minister also said that this will first begin by an exhibition at Dilli Haat INA with a creative presentation of his memories and heritage and this will be a temporary home for the public to visit one of the country’s most loveable Presidents.
