Delhi transport minister Gopal Rai on Friday met chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and requested him to relieve him of the “transport department” portfolio. Sources said Mr Rai, who underwent a surgery recently, asked the CM to relieve him of the portfolio due to health issues.
The sources claimed that power minister Satyendar Jain may be given the additional charge of transport.
Interestingly, the CM had claimed during the special Assembly session that he has got to know Mr Rai would be summoned by the anti-corruption branch and asked Mr Rai to meet the ACB even before the summons were issued.
Mr Rai returned to Delhi after his treatment at Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad, earlier this month after he underwent a surgery to remove a bullet that was lodged in his spine.
