A girl and her mother were thrashed by a group of youth for resisting a molestation bid and informing the police about the assault in Central Delhi’s Anand Parbat area on Monday. The entire attack was captured on a CCTV camera installed outside the residence of the victims.
The family members of the victim blamed the police for not taking action against the alleged repeat offenders. “The local goons are harassing me for the past one month. We had approached police for several times but no action was taken. On Saturday, Sonu, who live nearby, tried to touch me and abused me. I resisted and informed my parents about the act. When my mother confronted Sonu, he hit us and fled from the scene,” said the victim.
“We then approached the police informing them about the assault on us. Policemen picked up Sonu and his friends and tried to compromise the matter. We then came back home. On Sunday, Sonu was seen roaming in the locality. In the evening, he came along with his brother and friends and started beating me and my mother,” said the victim. “They beat my mother with belts and fled when the neighbours intervened,” added the girl.
