Girl found in jungle, cops suspect rape
A seven-year-old girl, clad in school uniform, was fou-nd lying in a pool of blood in southeast Delhi’s Okhla area on Monday evening.
The police suspects that she may have been raped by unidentified assailants who left her on the road after the incident.
The girl was spotted by a passerby near Sanjay Colony in Okhla Jungle after which she was rushed to AIIMS where she is recuperating. A case under relevant sections was registered at Okhla Industrial Area police station.
The police added that there are several injury marks on her face and other body parts. “It seems somebody after sexually assaulting her tried to kill her,” said a police officer.
The parents of the girl, who live in Harkesh Colony, have told the cops that their daughter had gone to school on Monday but did not return home.
The cops said that they have questioned several people in connection with the case. The involvement of vagabonds or drug addicts in the sexual assault on the girl has been suspected behind the crime. Further investigations are on.
