Four boys drown in Alipur canal

Four members of the family drowned in the canal on Saturday afternoon in Outer Delhi’s Alipur District.

Four members of the family drowned in the canal on Saturday afternoon in Outer Delhi’s Alipur District. The four boys, who were a part of a group of eight people, drowned after they got trapped in the current current. The rest of the group survived the tragic incident.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 1 pm when the group of eight men, all from a single family, decided to take a dip in the Yamuna canal. Once they plunged into the canal, the group tried to race down the canal in the shortest possible time. Four members from the group separated from the remaining members as they raced to the end of the canal. When they reached mid way, the group was trapped in the current which swept them away. “They tried to save the four people but the current deterred them from doing so. A team of boat club personnel entered the canal and recovered the bodies later,” said a police officer.
