Jugal Sharma, 48, brother of former cricketer Ajay Sharma, was found dead at his residence in North Delhi’s Shakti Nagar on Sunday.
Jugal Sharma, 48, brother of former cricketer Ajay Sharma, was found dead at his residence in North Delhi’s Shakti Nagar on Sunday.
Sharma’s body was discovered after his neighbours called the police on Sunday morning, complaining of a strong stench emanating from his second floor residence. According to the police, Sharma’s decomposed body was found in the house and his dog was found besides his body.
“There were a few liquor bottles near the decomposed body. Prima facie the death would have occurred two days ago and it seems that the cause of death was due to excessive alcohol consumption. However, the exact cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem report comes out,” said a senior police officer. According to initial investigation, the police does not suspect any foul play. His body was handed over the family members after the post-mortem.
Sharma’s neighbours said he was unmarried and stayed in the apartment alone. Initially, his mother lived with him and he assisted her in running a boutique, however, later his mother kept unwell and shifted to Ajay’s residence. The boutique was also shut down later. The neighbours added that Ajay had met his brother on Wednesday and had spoken to him on Thursday.
