Firm offers free cab service to promote plan

To help people reach offices on time during the odd-even car scheme and raise awareness on the high levels of pollution in the city, a private firm has launched free cabs services. The initiative aims at raising awareness on the significance of curbing toxic levels of pollution in the city and to help people identity the importance of bringing in little changes that could lead to greater benefits.

The initiative has been launched by Blueair, air purification systems. Initially, there will be a total of 10 blue cabs running across the city to help around 1,000 people reach their destinations.

Two cabs will operate in each of the five major areas — North Delhi, South Delhi, East Delhi, West Delhi and Central Delhi.

“The idea is to not just raise awareness among people, but to pitch in when initiatives are already being taken to curb the problem of rising pollution. In fact, we appeal to other private players as well to come forward and support the government to make the odd-even car scheme a success in the country,” Blueair India head, Vijay Kannan, said.

While helping people reach their offices and homes on time during the 15-day trial period in the city, the blue cab will also gather public reaction react to the initiative.

“The idea is to reinforce the belief that simple efforts make a big difference and to lend our support to this highly required initiative. Considering the not-so-robust public transport services of Delhim, we launched free cab services, which we are calling ‘blue cabs’. These blue collared cabs will pick people from busy routes and drop them to their offices for free,” added Mr Kannan.
