Fight against dengue on war footing, says Manish Sisodia

Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday asked the government and civic agencies to think of ways to prevent people from panicking over dengue.

Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday asked the government and civic agencies to think of ways to prevent people from panicking over dengue.

“We must prepare at war level,” Mr Sisodia said in a meeting he chaired at the Delhi Secretariat on the preparedness to handle dengue woes. “Panic is one of the challenges we are facing. We must have a quick response team which will communicate with people on dengue in detail and help them not to go in panic mode,” he said.

Mr Sisodia enquired about the schedule of distribution of dengue awareness pamphlets and door-to-door visits of health workers with dengue awareness kits and preparedness of hospitals.

The meeting was attended by district magistrates and officials of the health department, education department, New Delhi municipal council and the Union ministry of urban development. The government agencies claimed that it is all geared up to handle the increasing threat from dengue. The department of Health said it has started preparations for dengue three-months in advance as compared to last year. It plans to reach out to 45 lakh households with its community awareness kits.

The government also said that it will run 355 fever clinics to contain the outbreak of dengue.

Mr Sisodia said that he will monitor dengue closely and asked the health officials to send him a daily report. He also enquired on the number of beds being increased for dengue cases.
