Addressing JNU students, senior ex-servicemen said that they have a strong relationship with the university and they are proud of it. The ex servicemen were talking to students on “Nationalism: Straight from the battlefield” at the School of International Studies of university, organised by ABVP.

Addressing the students, Brig. Raj Bahadur Sharma (Retd) said, “Pakistan knows that it can’t defeat us on the battlefield, therefore they are waging a proxy war and trying to benefit from our internal weaknesses to disturb our internal security.”

Lt. Gen. Niranjan Singh Malik (Retd) explained about “two great mistakes” that India had committed. According to Mr Malik, the first was “to recognise Tibet as a part of China” and the second mistake was going to the UN on Jammu and Kashmir.

“The first mistake drew China closer to us and posed it as our great neighbouring enemy. On the other hand, the treaty signed between Hari Singh and the first Prime Minister on Jammu and Kashmir made it an integral part of India. So there was no point going to the UN but India went and the matter was deliberately made complicated by the UN authorities,” Lt. Gen. Malik said.
