The standing committee of East Delhi Municipal Corporation on Tuesday passed a resolution for free parking facilities at malls, hospitals and other private establishments falling under its jurisdiction.
“The issue was discussed as there were complaints of uncontrolled parking fees being charged by hospitals and malls in the municipal area. Although there are just 4-5 malls and 8-9 large private hospitals under EDMC, we have decided to regulate them,” standing committee chairperson Lata Gupta said.
The proposal for free parking facilities at private establishments under the civic agency, including malls and hospitals, was moved by Leader of the House Ram Narayan Dubey.
The municipal corporation gives floor area ratio (FAR) relaxation to basement parking facilities. But there are regular complaints of varying charges being realised by the users, Mr Gupta said.
