In a grisly incident, a three-and-a-half-year-old boy was crushed to death by an inebriated driver in a speeding tempo in southwest Delhi’s Najafgarh on Friday morning.
The incident took place at around 9 am when the deceased, identified as Chinmay, was playing outside his house as his father was talking to someone nearby. “The tempo driver, who was driving in a rash and negligent manner, lost control over the vehicle and crushed the victim. The driver was soon caught by an enraged mob of locals after the accident. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead,” the police said.
By the time the police reached the spot, the driver was brutally beaten up by the mob and had to be hospitalised. “The medical examination of the accused proved that he was in an inebriated condition. We have lodged a case against him with the local police station,” the official said.
