DMRC to lease out parking, retail area

The Delhi Metro is all set to lease out the parking and retail areas in the Dwarka Sector 8 Metro station for a period of 15 years. The DMRC initiative will not only help it to generate more revenue but also provide commuters with more options to shop and park their vehicles.

The Dwarka Metro station is situated at the Line-3 (Rajiv Chowk–Dwarka Sector 21 corridor) of Phase-II of the Delhi MRTS (Delhi Mass Rapid Transit System) Project. The Sector 8 station is situated near the IGI Airport and is accessible by road from all areas of Delhi and Gurgaon.

The station will reportedly have retail and commercial space on the ground floor which is proposed to be leased out for specified purposes. A senior officer said that since the Metro station is located in the commercial sector of Dwarka, the project site has an excellent opportunity to become an important commercial hub within this locality. With separate access being available for both commercial areas and parking lots, these floor areas are likely to present a unique opportunity to retailers as well.

The lessee will reportedly have the right to display signage(s) of suitable sizes for displaying its generic name of each space, but will need to obtain a written approval from the DMRC.
