Deputy Chief Minister dares centre to probe school
Reeling under a string of probes, deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Monday took a swipe at the Modi government and dared it to get a newly built government school in East Delhi’s Khichripur area

Reeling under a string of probes, deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Monday took a swipe at the Modi government and dared it to get a newly built government school in East Delhi’s Khichripur area probed by the CBI.
“The Delhi government has built a new swanky school in Khichripur. Get it probed by the CBI, the ACB and the CAG. Also, before the classes begin, send notices to the education secretary and all the officials concerned,” Mr Sisodia tweeted after he inaugurated the school building.
The Centre and the AAP government have been embroiled in a tug of war over a number of issues ever since the latter came to power last year. Mr Sisodia had on Sunday alleged that the CBI, the police and the ACB are only left with one task of “hatching” conspiracies against the AAP leaders and arresting them.
The agency had recently arrested the chief minister’s principal secretary, Rajendra Kumar, and four others in connection with an alleged graft case.
Also, BJP’s Delhi unit had in May sought a CBI inquiry into the price variance of water metres published by the AAP government. Leader of opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, ridiculed Mr Sisodia for taking pride in construction of a ‘grand’ school building in Khichripur.
“Yes, it is a matter of great pride for the government which had promised 500 schools to come up with a new school building and that too in 18 months of its existence. Where there is no achievement worth its name, a small step becomes a big milestone. It may be noted that it is only construction of the building, not opening of the school,” said Mr Gupta.
He pointed that it is a school building whose foundation stone was laid down in former chief minister Sheila Dikshit’s time. Its plan was drawn and work started during the earlier regime, therefore there is no point in Mr Sisodia claiming credit for the work his government never did.
“Construction of building is a simple fact. But deputy CM has melodramatically asked the centre to invoke the CBI, ACB and CAG in the matter. It reflects the demeaning mindset of the Arvind Kejriwal government. Why does the government go to the extent of asking the Centre to send its officers involved in construction of school to jail,” asked Mr Gupta.
