Delhi University has set up a monitoring committee based on the guidelines of the SC/ ST Welfare Committee for assistance in the implementation of the reservation policy.

The president of this committee will be the former vice chancellor of Gujarat Central Univers-ity and retired professor from Jawaharlal Nehru University’s School of Life Sciences, Prof. R. Kale.

The committee will be examining the reservation roster prepared by the university departments and colleges for recruitment in teaching and non-teaching positions. It is to be learnt that the parliamentary committee for the welfare of SC and ST had visited DU few days back.

“Once the committee starts functioning, it will also look into the roster in university departments and affiliated colleges from time to time. The 11-member committee will consist of a president, a convenor and nine members,” DU SC/ ST, OBC Forum president Hansraj Suman said.

He also said that the committee will prepare the department of personnel and training (DoPT) guidelines and organise the university infrastructure. However, the university has recommended the committee to organise a workshop with the college principals and liaison officers prior to the enactment of the roster in order to provide the related information accurately and authentically.

On the other hand, the forum has requested the university departments and colleges to prepare a model roster.
