Prof. Kaushik Basu, chief economist with the World Bank, was conferred the first “Professor A.L. Nagar Fellow” award by the Delhi University’s vice-chancellor Yogesh Tyagi at an event organised under the aegis of Indian Econome-tric Society Trust in collaboration with Delhi School of Economics on Tuesday.
DSE director Pami Dua, while addressing guests, said, “This function was a momentous day for the school as it was recognising and celebrating the pioneering work and achievements at the highest level of two of its most distinguished faculty members, Prof. A.L. Nagar and Prof. Kaushik Basu”.
Paying tributes to Prof. Nagar, TIES chairman V.R. Panchamukhi said, “While Prof. Nagar was a world class quantitative econometrician, he will be remembered more as teacher with par excellence who has to his credit some of the best placed students and policymakers all over the world.”
