Delhi Development Authority proposes 33 new schemes

In its budget for 2016-17, the DDA has proposed 33 new land development schemes and 18 new housing-related developments among other projects. The DDA’s total annual expenditure has been estimated at Rs 8,500 crore.

On Friday, the Delhi Development Authority’s budget for 2016-2017 along with revised estimates for 2015-2016 were presented before the authority, which approved several decisions.

“An amount of Rs 3,753.87 crore has been earmarked for construction of houses and shops in this budget. New housing schemes are likely to be undertaken in Vasant Kunj, Rohini and Dwarka etc. and ongoing schemes in areas like Kalkaji, Rohini, Jahangirpuri, Dwarka, Bakkarwala, Vasant Kunj, Narela etc. which are already in progress, will also be taken up,” a senior DDA officer said.

“Shopping centres at Yamuna Vihar, Geeta Colony, Rajouri Garden, Paschim Vihar, Dwarka, which are in progress, will be developed further,” the officer said.

The authority also approved a proposal for building eight new community halls in areas such as Pitampura, Rohini, Narela, Madanpur Khadar, Badarpur and Jasola.

Among other plans lined up by the DDA are “infrastructure development at four places in Rohini, UER-II connecting canal to Railway Line to Mundka NH-10, UER-I and G.T. Karnal Road to Western Yamuna Canal.” Integrated freight complexes have also been proposed at Gazipur and Narela. “Several housing scheme-related works are going on at present, including at Dwarka, Jasola, Rohini, Vasant Kunj, Narela, Jahangirpuri, Kondli, Kalkaji... A new thrust has been given to Aravalli Biodiversity park, Yamuna Biodiversity park, and biodiversity parks at Tilpath Valley, Jharoda Majra and Wazirabad Phase-II in the budget,” the officer said.

“The estimated expenditure of Rs 8,500 crore in 2016-17 is expected to be met from mainly Rs 2,700 crore from disposal of houses, Rs 2,500 crore from disposal of land and Rs 3,300 crore from miscellaneous income,” the DDA said.

A sum of Rs 880 crore in revised estimate of 2015-16 and Rs 910 crore in budget estimate of 2016-17 has been allocated for expansion of green areas.

The DDA has also earmarked grants to the DMRC amounting to Rs 313.50 crore and Rs 13.50 crore for the respective periods.
