Criminal wanted for multiple murders held
The special cell of the Delhi police on Thursday claimed to have arrested an engineer-turned-criminal involved in multiple murders and carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh declared by the Haryana police. The accused, identified as Virender alias Juthar, was arrested from Kalindi Kunj area and one sophisticated semi-automatic pistol, along with 6 cartridges of .32 bore, was recovered from his possession.
The police said that he whipped out his loaded pistol and tried to fire at the police party when they went to arrest him. He is wanted in four cases of connected murders, which he committed in series to eliminate the witnesses in a case.
Acting on a tip-off that Virender would be coming to Kalindi Kunj area to meet one of his associates, a trap was laid near Kalindi Kunj Chowk. “As soon as the police party tried to cordon him, he immediately whipped out a pistol and aimed at the police party, but two of our men pounced upon him and overpowered him,” said the cops, adding, “During interrogation he disclosed that he entered in the world of crime in 2014. Sandeep Fauji and Mahesh, both influential persons of his village, killed one Shakti Pehalwan in February 2014, who was his friend. In retaliation, he shot dead Mahesh. Subsequently, it was decided to compromise the matter with the intervention of village elders and as a result, Sandeep Fauji, who was arrested and was in judicial custody, was bailed out. As soon as Sandeep Fauji came out on bail, Virender shot him dead.”
He also tried to threaten Sandeep Fauji’s mother, Bimla Devi, who was an eyewitness in the murder of her son, not to depose against him, but she didn’t yield to the threats. She was also shot dead by him followed by Shri Ram who was Bimla Devi’s father and was an eyewitness in her murder case.
The police added that Virender in 2008, after his 12th,, completed Civil Engineering course from a Polytechnic Institute in Jhajjar in Haryana after which he did a job in a private construction company for about 6 months at Manesar.
