Cop threatens judge, suspended

A Delhi police constable posted with Jaitpur police station was on Thursday suspended for misbehaving with a woman judge.

A Delhi police constable posted with Jaitpur police station was on Thursday suspended for misbehaving with a woman judge.

A district court judge had filed a complaint against the Delhi police constable posted with the Jaitpur police station, southeast Delhi, for abusing and threatening her.

The judge in the FIR had alleged that the constable had recorded her videos when she was inside her car with her husband and child. When she objected to this, the constable hurled abuses at her. The FIR was lodged on April 3. However, the SHO of the concerned police station and DCP of the area were contacted they refused to divulge any further details in the case.

According to the FIR, the female judge accompanied by her husband and seven-year-old son had gone to Yamuna Ghat to offer prayers. They parked their car near the ghat next to the Jaitpur police chowki. The woman left for her rituals and returned after two minutes and while she was sitting in her car, she spotted a constable recording her video.

The woman judge then asked the constable as to why was he recording her video, he merely told her to “leave the place” and it was “his wish to do whatever he wants.”

The judge also reported that the constable was drunk and she called the Jaitpur police station SHO and complained about the matter. He sent a PCR to sort out the issue.

The police team came in a Gypsy and the judge tried to reach out to the team for help. The constable turned “violent” and started abusing the judge. She alleged in her FIR that the constable said that he would file a false complaint against her and also told her that he knew people who would beat her up and teach her a lesson.

The judge added that her son, who was in the car, started getting tense and developed stomach cramps. She alleged that the errant police official was constable Ravinder Kumar and asked the SHO to take action against him.

“We have suspended the constable and ordered a probe into the matter. A case under IPC Sections 354 A, 506, 509 and 341 has been registered against the constable,” said a senior police official.
