Following withdrawals by students from several courses, most of the Delhi University colleges are likely to release a third cut-off list for the respective courses in order to fill up their seats.
The university which witnessed a huge pace in the admissions on the basis of the second cut-off list, also saw a large number of students withdrawing from several colleges in a bid to join their preferred colleges and courses. According to a source, admissions to commerce and science courses are expected to be open in several colleges. “Inspite of showing vigilance with a slight decline in the cut-off, there are less chances that admissions for all the courses will be closed within two or three lists. One full day is left for admissions on the basis of the second cut-off, so once the admissions are over on Friday, we will get to know the actual status of the remaining seats in each course,” said a DU official.
Ramanujan college which has confirmed 400 admissions for 800 seats still has 50 per cent seats vacant. “We had maintained vigilance while issuing the cut-off with a decline so that there is a balance between carrying out the admissions and cancellations. Since the counselling for BMS, BBE and BBA has begun, seats are getting cancelled for BA programmes too,” said the college principal Dr S.P. Agarwal.
“However, in the way cancellations are taking place in every college, I am sure students will get a chance to apply for their preferred courses in the third cut-off list,” he added.
On the other hand, Daulat Ram College has enrolled 800 students for 1,100 seats with most applying for the BA programmes.
