CM Arvind Kejriwal: Does Centre want ‘BJP lawyers’ as HC judges
Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday alleged that the BJP-led government is trying to appoint “BJP lawyers” as high court judges of the country. This comes after the Supreme Court pulled up the Centre for sitting on collegium list for appointment and transfer of judges to high courts across the country,Mr Kejriwal took to Twitter to allege that the Centre is trying to “interfere” and “stall” the functioning of judiciary. “Why Centre not clearing names suggested by SC collegium Does Centre want BJP lawyers to be appointed as HC judges ” he tweeted.
Observing that justice delivery system is “collapsing”, the apex court had earlier cautioned the Centre, saying it would not tolerate the resulting “logjam” and will intervene if necessary. According to the Chief Justice of India, T.S. Thakur, the appointment of HC judges are pending with the Central government for eight long months.
Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday accused the BJP of being -"anti-dalit-" after the saffron party's councillors in south MCD “tried to attack” a civic body representative from the community.
The AAP alleged that the BJP councillors attacked dalit councillor Jeevan Das when he raised issues of road cutting and alleged encroachment by MP Ramesh Bidhuri (of the the BJP).
“On Friday, the BJP councillors tried to attack, and misbehaved with dalit councillor Jeevan Das during discussion on encroachment,” the AAP said in a statement.
