City government not interested in regularising colonies: BJP

Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta on Saturday alleged that the Delhi government is not interested in regularising unauthorised colonies and it is misleading 50 lakh people

Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta on Saturday alleged that the Delhi government is not interested in regularising unauthorised colonies and it is misleading 50 lakh people living in these colonies. He demanded that the Delhi government should file an affidavit in the high court clearly informing as to how and the period within which it will regularise 1,795 unauthorised colonies in the city.

On the one hand, the Delhi government talks about regularisation of unauthorised colonies and on the other hand it makes a statement in the court that all constructions in Delhi will be carried out as per National Building Code and by laws for construction which shows double character of the government, the BJP leader said.

Me Gupta also pointed that 50 lakh population of the national capital lives in unauthorised colonies where no construction has been made as per National Building Code and by laws for construction.

“The previous Congress government is entirely responsible for the same. The Congress government allowed coming up of thousands of unauthorised colonies for their votes, but did not regularise them intentionally. Similar tactics are now being adopted by the AAP government. This government talks to the people about regularisation of unauthorised colonies, but on the contrary in the court it states that no construction will be permitted in the capital in violation of National Building Code and by laws for construction. If this is the case, the Delhi government will not be able to regularise even a single colony,” added Mr Gupta.

According to Mr Gupta, while hearing a PIL, the high court has made harsh comments against the Delhi government.
