A day after a 16-year-old boy was murdered in east Delhi’s Harsh Vihar area, the Delhi police detained three juveniles in connection with the matter on Thursday.

A day after a 16-year-old boy was murdered in east Delhi’s Harsh Vihar area, the Delhi police detained three juveniles in connection with the matter on Thursday. Preliminary interrogation has revealed that one of the three juveniles suspected that the victim, identified as Raja, was in a relationship with his sister. “On Wednesday, the main accused along with two of his friends confronted Raja to teach him a lesson for his relationship with his sister,” said a senior police officer, adding, “However, the trio beat him up so brutally with stones and rocks that he died on the spot.” Raja’s body was recovered near Mandoli jail on Wednesday.

The police said that a case was filed under relevant sections and during investigations it was learnt that three boys had been seen near the spot. “On the basis of CCTV footage and local intelligence, the juveniles were apprehended on Thursday,” added the senior police officer.

Raja, who was the student of Class 7 in a local government school, stayed with his father Bhura, mother Shehnaz and four siblings in Sundar Nagri locality of Harsh Vihar. The three boys accused of killing him also live in the same area.

The police said that the three juveniles have been sent to correctional home where they will be counselled.“It is a serious crime and we are taking every step in accordance with the law as the three accused are juveniles,” said an investigating officials.
