A day after the AAP government blamed the BJP-ruled three civic bodies for burning of municipal waste at sanitary landfill sites, the Delhi BJP hit back on Friday saying if the MCDs were responsible for Bhalswa fire then the AAP government was also responsible for the Yamuna Khadar fire. Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay said that nothing can be more ridiculous and misleading than the Kejriwal government’s allegation that the fire at Bhalswa landfill site was an intentional effort to increase city’s pollution to defame the ongoing odd-even car rationing scheme.
Mr Upadhyay said that a lot of gas gets generated at such landfill sites and such fires happen every year when heat waves occur. “In last few years, there have been around a dozen such fires at Bhalswa or Ghazipur and at that time we did not have a comic state government to allege that such fires are politically motivated or initiated.”
Questioning the constitution of a committee to fi-nd the reason for the fires, Mr Upadhyay said on one hand the AAP government constituted the committee and on the other the AAP government and ruling AAP leaders levelled charges of igniting fire on the BJP-ruled municipal corporations and threatened to file an FIR.
“In the circumstances, a question needs to be answered by Mr Kejriwal’s team that if the Bhalswa fire has been ignited by municipal corporations then should we hold the Delhi government responsible for igniting fire in Yamuna Khadar area which falls under its control,” added Mr Upadhyay.
He advised it will be better if the fickle-minded Kejriwal government ins-tead of issuing childish statements on serious iss-ues rises up to bring a permanent solution to the problem of garbage mountains.
