The delegation also requested Mr Jung to seek report from chief minister Arvind Kejriwal over the fear of destabilising of the AAP government or loss of his job as expressed by Delhi water minister Kapil Mishra in his August letter.
The delegation led by Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay also submitted a memorandum raising the issue of the contents of a letter written by Mr Mishra to Mr Kejriwal, expressing fear of losing his job along with possibility of destabilising the government if action was taken against the accused in the '400-crores DJB tanker scam that took place in the Sheila Dikshit government.
The memorandum said that it is really surprising that Mr Mishra had written a letter on August 28, 2015 to the chief minister, citing findings of an inquiry committee report, establishing that the '400-crore scam took place in the DJB during the Congress government led by Ms Dikshit, who headed the Delhi Jal Board but no action was ordered by Mr Kejriwal against the accused even after almost nine months.
“The present government of Mr Kejriwal claims to be working on a agenda of zero tolerance for corruption and politically speaks a lot against corruption, but his government has totally ignored the report of a '400-crore water tanker scam in the DJB during the tenure of a previous government,” said the memorandum.
Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay said it is really surprising the self-proclaimed “Mr Clean Kejriwal” has time to speak on international issues, but goes silent on a major '400-crore scam of his predecessor government.
Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta said that this '400-crore water tanker scam referred to in Mr Mishra’s letter is not even a tip of the iceberg. “For last 15 years, the Delhi Jal Board has been a corruption den where over 75 per cent of development funds have been looted,” added Mr Gupta.
