BJP core group takes stock of preparations
As soon as the Election Commission announced the poll schedule for the upcoming Delhi Assembly election, the Delhi BJP held a meeting of the party’s core group to discuss poll preparations. BJP president Amit Shah also called a meeting of Delhi BJP leaders late on Monday.
According to a party insider, Mr Shah, who is personally monitoring preparations for the election, called the meeting to finalise the BJP’s strategy for high-stakes Delhi Assembly polls. “Any unexpected result in Delhi will dent the ongoing Modi wave and party national leadership doesn’t want to take any chance. Mr Shah is likely to give instructions to state leadership for the polls,” the party leader, who preferred to remain anonymous, said. Meeting between Mr Shah and state leaders went on till late.
Earlier, Delhi BJP leaders said that 25 days for the entire election given by the Election Commission was too short a period to get prepared.
