Two days after the cold-blooded murder of dentist Pankaj Narang in Vikaspuri, several people, including sub-divisional magistrate (Patel Nagar) Vivek Kumar, MLA Jarnail Singh and Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta, made a beeline to his residence. A group of social activists belonging to NGO Sampoorna also raised slogans against the Delhi police.
“We are here to raise our voice for the safety of people. This brutal murder has shamed not only the entire national capital, but has shamed entire humanity,” one of the activists said.
On being asked if there will be a parallel investigation into the matter, SDM Dr Kumar said, “We are going as per police investigation. We are in talks with local residents who have raised grievances about their safety in the absence of colony gates. However, no separate inquiry is being carried out.” AAP MLA Jarnail Singh also made a brief visit to the dentist’s residence.
Meanwhile, Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta, accompanied by his supporters, raised the issue of menace created by Bangladeshi immigrants. Correlating the existence of the slum cluster with the increasing incidents of crime in the area, Mr Gupta said, “When a man in Dadri was killed, everyone politicised it. Here in Delhi, it is not just the murder of a human being, but the murder of our Hindu brother. All we want is that the Delhi police must carry out detailed verification drive of the voter ID cards of the people living in the slum cluster.”
A delegation of West Delhi BJP leaders also met the Narang family and RWA members at Krishna Park, Vikaspuri, and expressed grief over the killing. Local MP Pravesh Verma had met the family of the deceased on Friday.
The BJP has also demanded that the Delhi government should constitute a special court for the speedy trial of the accused in the murder of the dentist. The delegation included party pradesh general secretary Ashish Sood, mayor Subhash Arya and councillors Yashpal Arya and Pankaj Singh.
