Arvind Kejriwal’s secret team keeps eye on government offices, bureaucrats
In his bid to weed out corruption, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has set up a special team to keep tab on all the departments of the Delhi government. The primary aim of the team is to scan the functioning of all the departments and direct action against those who are caught indulging in corruption. The team will be reportedly working under the direct command of the chief minister.
A source said that the team has already carried out inspections of transport, revenue and health departments. Following reports submitted by the special team, Mr Kejriwal is said to have removed a motor licensing officer of Sheikh Sarai and a deputy registrar of the revenue wing in Kapashera till further orders.
Preliminary reports suggest that maximum corruption has been taking place in the transport department at the lower ranks. In the revenue wing, corruption was reportedly taking place at the level of lawyers and deed writers. “A separate team has been submitted to take stock of the working at the lower ranks in both the wings,” the source added.
The special team, which carried out an extensive inspection in all the government-run hospitals, have submitted that all of these were functioning properly. “All the hospitals have reported Grade 1 results,” a senior officer told this newspaper. “Now, another inspection will be carried out in other government-run medical centres.”
It is reliably learnt that the chief minister himself would be monitoring the reports of the special team. “No city minister will have any role in the functioning of this team. The team is an independent entity.”
