Arvind Kejriwal: Delhi University admission process ‘most bizarre’

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday criticised the Centre for not having a quota system for city students in the Delhi University, calling the admission system “most bizarre”. Mr Kejriwal’s remarks come days after his deputy Manish Sisodia wrote to the then HRD minister Smriti Irani, suggesting Delhi students should be given preference over those from other states for DU admissions. “Delhi University admission system is most bizarre. They don’t have either quota for locals or normalisation of marks or entrance tests,” Mr Kejriwal tweeted.
In his letter to Ms Irani, Mr Sisodia had said that due to “anomalies” in the DU admission process, which is based on cut-offs, lakhs of Delhi students are suffering as applicants from state boards have more marks than them.
