Yet another Aam Aam Party MLA has been booked on charges of misbehaving with a woman. An FIR has been lodged against Deoli MLA Prakash Jarwal at the Greater Kailash police station under Sections 354, 506, 509 and 34 of IPC for misbehaving with a woman.
In her complaint, the complainant told the police that she had gone to the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) office in Greater Kailash on July 2 to meet a particular officer and complain about severe water crisis in Sangam Vihar L-Block, when she was confronted by Mr Jarwal’s associates, who were present there. They allegedly abused her verbally and threatened her.
She alleged the MLA arrived there in a while and touched her inappropriately. She also alleged that Mr Jarwal pushed her, following which she fell down, and abused her before he left the spot.
However, the AAP rubbished the charges of molestation against Mr Jarwal and said it was “impractical” to believe that the alleged incident occurred in presence of 300 people, including mediapersons.
“A woman is alleging that an MLA molested her in broad daylight in presence of around 300 people. It is totally impractical to believe it happened during an inauguration of a tanker at the DJB office in GK-1 where 250-300 people were present in the function. There were media personnel present. There are video recordings of the event,” the AAP’s Delhi unit secretary Saurabh Bharadwaj said.
South Delhi BJP Mahila Morcha workers held a demonstration near Mr Jarwal’s residence in Tigri Extension, demanding his arrest for misconduct against the woman.
Mr Jarwal after being booked on charges of misbehaving with the woman, claimed the case was a “political game”. He asserted that he will readily go to prison if the charges against him are proven.
Interacting with the media after being booked, Mr Jarwal said that the woman who had filed an FIR against him is a member of the Rashtravadi Janata Party.
