Intensifying its drive to check mosquito breeding to prevent dengue, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has issued over 4,800 notices to residential and institutional premises, including Air-ports Authority, DJB, colleges and DMRC construction sites where mosquito breeding was detected.
During an intensive check, mosquito breeding was been detected in more than 5,000 residences out of 4.82 lakh houses inspected by the SDMC, an official said. “The corporation has issued 4,861 legal notices and prosecution has been initiated in 200 cases against individuals, offices and institutions after mosquito breeding was found on their premises,” he said.
The SDMC claimed that no one is spared during intensive drive to check mosquito breeding. “No big fish is being spared during checking for mosquito breeding. 19 challans and 41 notices have been issued by the corporation to several government agencies, including Airports Authority, DJB, PWD, DDA, IGL, SPG, MCI, DMRC construction sites at GK-II, Chirag Delhi, principal of CRPF camp as well as to Parshwnath Construction, M.C. Construction and the principals of A.R.S.D. College and Moti Lal Nehru College,” SDMC additional commissioner Mita Singh said.
The SDMC has decided to intensify checking of mosquito breeding at big establishments, institutions and offices in its municipal jurisdiction. SDMC commissioner Punit Kumar Goel said the civic body is taking all possible steps to control the outbreak of diseases like dengue and malaria.
