Tuesday was the last day for submitting applications. However, the applicants said that since they were unable to submit their applications online as the server was down, they had lined up at the office of dean, students’ welfare, on Wednesday to submit a memorandum asking for an extension of the last date. “The online registration and registration fees payment for applying to the Postgraduate/Masters courses shall reopen from 10 pm of May 25 and shall continue till the midnight of May 30,” the DU registrar said in a statement.
“Candidates who have confirmed their registration as per Clause 1.2.1-(d) on Page 7 of the bulletin of information for postgraduate/masters courses (2016-17) till midnight of May 30 shall be permitted to submit the online registration fees till 4 pm of May 31,” the registrar added.
However, in order to help the outstation students, for the first time the entrance tests for postgraduate courses will be conducted in six centres outside Delhi — Kolkata, Chennai, Jammu, Ahmedabad, Nagpur, and Varanasi. The university has made the process completely online this year.
There are about 8,000 seats in 66 postgraduate courses. This year, the entrance exams will only have multiple-choice objective questions. The entrance exams will be conducted between June 18 and 24 and interviews will be completed by July 4.
