AAP’s Somnath Bharti unable to wish son on birthday

AAP legislator Somnath Bharti could not wish his three-year-old son on his birthday as he was told that the children had been taken for vaccination.

AAP legislator Somnath Bharti could not wish his three-year-old son on his birthday as he was told that the children had been taken for vaccination.

On Saturday, Mr Bharti requested the court that he wanted to meet his children, who are currently living with their mother. Mr Bharti urged the court to make arrangement for a meeting between him and his children. However, the meeting could not be arranged as the children were reportedly taken to a hospital for vaccination.

“I want to meet my children, today only, I will meet them in front of the judge,” Mr Bharti said. The counsel for his wife, Lipika Mitra, said that the children were taken to hospital for vaccination. Mr Bharti said that it had been over a year since he met his children. Saturday was his son’s birthday and he wanted to greet him.

During the hearing, the prosecution also told the court that they were mulling approaching the CISF and the ITBP to get a behavioural report of Mr Bharti’s dog. They told the court that it would take around two weeks. The prosecution told the court that they had approached the BSF but it had no such facility to conduct such a test on the dog. It has been alleged in the FIR that Mr Bharti had allegedly unleashed his dog at his wife many a time. It has also been alleged in the FIR that the dog had bitten his wife. In the chargesheet, the prosecution has alleged that Mr Bharti had tried to endanger the life of his unborn child by unleashing the dog on his wife.

“The accused unleashed his dog on the complainant which bit her badly. It is pertinent to mention that the complainant was in an advanced stage of pregnancy and she being further diabetic the act by the accused not only was an attempt (to endanger) the life of the complainant but also seriously endangered the life of the unborn child which the complainant was carrying,” the chargesheet read.

The prosecution has said that there is enough evidence to prove its case against Mr Bharti. The police has said that as per the statements of the witnesses, there is sufficient evidence to file a chargesheet under Section 307 (attempt to murder), 315 (act done with intent to prevent child being born alive or to cause it to die after birth) and 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means).
