AAP raises Rs 2 crore through ‘I Fund Honest Party’

Launched by its national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP has generated Rs 2 crores through its fund-raising campaign “I Fund Honest Party”, within 10 days of the campaign.

Launched by its national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP has generated Rs 2 crores through its fund-raising campaign “I Fund Honest Party”, within 10 days of the campaign.

The party claimed that the initiative received highest single day donations on January 10, the day when Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a negative campaign against Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP. The AAP has decided to make source of funds to political parties as one of its focal points of campaign for the Delhi assembly elections.

So far the party has got Rs 5.16 crores from 17,730 donors from across the country and sympathisers from 50 nations.

So far, at least 4,500 donors have participated in the #IFundHonestParty challenge, which has seen a variety of local fund-raising programmes launched by party units in India and abroad, including “SelfieWithMufflerMan” in Bengaluru and #FlameOfHope in UK, the party said.

The ‘I Fund Honest Party’ campaign was launched by Kejriwal on January 2 under which AAP made an appeal to donors to make a donation and appeal to at least 10 of their friends and family members to donate.

The AAP chief had invited 11 people including his brother and sister to donate money.

“The #IFundHonestParty Challenge” has ignited the imagination of our volunteers from across the world. Nearly every day, we get a request to approve a new, innovative fund-raising initiative” said AAP national secretary Pankaj Gupta.

Modelled after the #IceBucketChallenge, the party said that it appeals to the people to make a donation and exhort at least ten of their friends and family members to also donate for the initiative. “Individuals named by Arvind Kejriwal have accepted the challenge, made their donations and tagged other friends and family to the challenge. “Many of our state and district level colleagues are also taking the challenge and helping extend the reach,” party leader Pankaj Gupta said.
