AAP moves lokayukta, ACB against BJP’s mayor

Ahead of civic bypoll in the national capital, the AAP on Thursday approached the anti-corruption branch (ACB) and Delhi lokayuta seeking a probe into charges of corruption against North Delhi mayor Ravinder Gupta.

AAP’s Delhi unit convenor Dilip Pandey and party’s legal cell convener Rajendra Pal Gautam filed a compliant with the ACB and the lokayukta.

The party referred to a letter written by Yogendra Chandolia, BJP’s Leader of the House in North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) to party’s state president Satish Upadhyay, accusing Gupta of “taking money” in the name of party fund and demanded a probe into it.

Besides, the AAP also sought an investigation into charges of irregularities in giving tenders for garbage collection.

Another complaint the party filed relates to a building proposal, which was initially sanctioned but later rejected.

“So, the case is fishy. We have given a complaint to both the ACB and the Lokayukta. Now there will be a hearing in the lokayukta case,” Mr Pandey said.

AAP sources said the case will also prove to be a “test” for ACB which the party accused of being controlled by BJP-led government at the Centre.
