Trouble continues to brew for AAP legislators as a woman has alleged that she was threatened of rape and murder by a youth at the “behest” of Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan.

The police has registered an FIR against unknown persons under IPC Sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman). “The case is not against the MLA,” said R.P. Upadhyay, joint CP (south-eastern range).

The complainant was earlier associated with the Aam Aadmi Party and claims to be a social worker. The woman, a resident of southeast Delhi’s Jasola, had called up the MLA on his mobile phone on July 10 to complain about power failure in her area.

She has claimed that she decided to visit the MLA’s house in Jamia Nagar after he was “indifferent” to her complaint over the phone. When she reached the MLA’s house, she found it locked from inside. When she received no response from inside, she decided to return. “I had just walked a few steps when a young man opened the gates and called out to me. Accusing me of being a political leader, he threatened to have me raped and burnt alive. He added that he was abusing her on the orders of the MLA,” the woman alleged. The alleged incident took place on July 10.
