The body of a brutally murdered 30-year-old AAP leader was found from the bushes near his house in outer Delhi’s Be-gumpur area on Monday morning. The AAP leader, identified as Dhirendra Ishwar, headed the social media wing of the party and had recently taken over as Poorvanchal district president.

The police said that his head and his genitals were chopped off. His stomach was brutally torn apart as well.

A senior police officer said that the police suspects an illicit relationship to be the reason behind the incident. However, nothing can be said with confirmation, the official added.

Dhirendra, the cops said, stayed with his family — father Sri Ram Vinod, mother Sumitra Devi, brother Virendra, wife Rakhi and 5-year-old son — in Rohini area of outer Delhi. However, about 15 days ago, he had shifted to Begumpur with his wife and child. “We are trying to find out the reason behind the sudden change of residence,” added the cops.

According to the police, Dhirendra had gone to attend a party gathering with another party worker, Krishna, in Nangloi on Sunday afternoon. “When he did not return till late evening, his mother call-ed another worker, Lalit Aggarwal, to ask for Kris-hna’s mobile number,” said the officer, adding, “Krishna, however, told them that he had left Dhirendra near his house late Sunday night and had no idea about his disappearance.”

The family carried out a search till Monday morning until the police received call from a passerby about a brutally murdered body lying in the bushes just few kilometers from his house. A police team rushed to the spot. Dhirendra was identified from some papers found in his possession. His mobile phone was missing from the scene.

The police said that his body has been sent for an autopsy and results are awaited which would give the police some clue about the incident. “We suspect that it may be a case of illicit relationship gone wrong,” said the investigating officials, adding, “However, all angles are being probed.”
