4 held for abducting TCS techie

The Delhi police arrested four persons from Mathura for abducting and robbing a senior TCS consultant a week ago.

The breakthrough came from the CCTV footage of an ATM booth which one of the suspects had visited to withdraw money using an ATM card robbed from the victim.

“Though the suspect had covered his face with his hand while using the ATM, we were able to capture some parts of his face. That finally helped us identify the robbers. Once we learnt that the gang was hiding in Mathura, we conducted a raid and arrested them,” said a senior police officer on Monday.

Identified as 55-year-old Sumit Chakrabarty, the victim was waiting for a bus at Andrews Ganj bus stop on Wednesday morning when he was approached by two well-dressed men claiming to be BSF officers.

Even as the duo was asking Chakrabarty for directions to ISBT, a Santro car pulled up next to them. The man behind the wheels asked directions to Noida Sector 62.

The conversation led to the two men (claiming to be BSF officers) seeking a lift to ISBT and the driver readily agreed. The driver also offered a lift to Mr Chakrabarty, who was hesitant for a while before agreeing to hop in.
