A 34-year-old man committed suicide by hanging in northeast Delhi’s Harsh Vihar area. His body was recovered on Saturday after neighbours informed the police of foul smell coming from the house.
A 34-year-old man committed suicide by hanging in northeast Delhi’s Harsh Vihar area. His body was recovered on Saturday after neighbours informed the police of foul smell coming from the house. A three-page suicide note, written in Hindi, has been found from his possession, blaming a woman and two boys for blackmailing him over an intimate video, the police said.
On the basis of the letter, a case of abetment of suicide has been filed at the local police station and hunt for the three mentioned is on.
The police said that the deceased, identified as Soh-anvir, came in contact with a woman about a year ago and developed relations with her. When Sohanvir’s wife got to know of their relationship she left him and started staying at her parents house. After sometime, the woman and two youth started blackmailing Sohanvir, threatening to put his intimate video on the Internet if he did not pay them money. Sohanvir, in fact, gave them some cash few months back. However, lately, they were demanding Rs 2 lakh to not put the video online due to which Sohanvir was upset. On Wednesday, he came back to his house. His brother Pankaj tried to ask him about his problem, but he did not say anything. His brother then went back to his home. On Saturday, the neighbours called the police after noticing a foul smell coming from the house. The lock was broken and his decomposed body was found. His body was sent for the autopsy, added the police.
Sohanvir ran a business of manufacturing medals and trophies. Further investigations into the matter are on.
