3 bodies found near rail tracks in South Delhi
Panic struck Sarojini Nagar area when three people, including a woman, were found dead under mysterious circumstances on railway tracks on Friday morning. One injured man, identified as Suraj Bhan, was admitted to the hospital as well, the police said. He has claimed that the woman, identified as Meena, is his wife. Preliminary investigations suggest that they fell off the train. However, the police are probing the matter from all possible angles and are suspecting foul play.
According to the police, at about 7 am on Friday they received a call from a passerby that four people were lying unconscious on the Sarojini Nagar railway tracks. Immediately teams from the local police station and railway police reached the spot. All were taken to AIIMS where the doctors declared three of them dead on arrival. The injured was admitted. He is now believed to be out of danger. Though the cops have not been able to record his full statement, he has claimed that the woman, Meena, is his wife.
The second deceased has been identified as Ramesh Singh, who worked as a cook with the Delhi police, a senior police officer said. The third deceased has not been identified so far.
Investigating officials said that they are trying to identify the train in which they were travelling. “It seems that they were pushed off the train following a scuffle,” said the investigating officials, adding, “Their belongings must also be on the train in which they were travelling as nothing has been found from the spot.”
The police said that they are relying on Suraj Bhan to ascertain what exactly happened. However, he has not been in the condition to give his statement. “We will question him once he is fit and will take the probe forward,” said the police, adding, “All angles are being kept open for now.” A case under relevant sections has been registered at the local police station and further investigations are on.
The police added that they are trying to identify the third deceased as well. All three bodies were sent for the autopsy, whose results are awaited. “Autopsy reports would be crucial in ascertaining the truth,” added the police.
Investigating officials added that once they identify the train from which they fell, they would also try to contact other passengers, for which they would seek the assistance of railway authorities.
