Two brothers have been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting two minor girls and gruesome murder of one of them in Gandhi Nagar area of East Delhi.
“The accused brothers Danish, 25, and Ashu, 23, have been arrested in two cases registered by the police. Both have been booked for raping a minor. The elder brother was also booked for gruesome murder of the other 16 year old girl and burning her body to remove evidence,” said Rishi Pal, DCP(east).
A police team that had gone to attend a call of fire had found the 16 year old girl’s partially burnt from a 2nd floor flat at Kailash Nagar of Gandhi Nagar area on July 28.
During investigation police found that the girl had returned from school at around 1 pm on the day and was alone in the falt as her mother and brother had gone on work.
Further investigation led police to a close friend of the girl who revealed that she herself and her deceased friend were being sexually assaulted by the accused brothers.
“During investigation, name of Danish came up as he was trying to contact the girl for some time. He knew the girl as they are both from the same locality,” said the officer.
The deceased victim’s friend revealed during examination that she was also sexually exploited by the accused Danish and raped by his brother Ashu, said the officer.
The girl was counselled and her statement was recorded by a lady police officer. A case under sections 376,376D, 328,506 IPC and section 6 and 12 POCSO Act was registered at Gandhi Nagar police station on Sunday and the accused brothers were arrested.
Interrogation and further evidences suggested that Danish had allegedly also committed the gruesome murder of the 16 year old girl and he was arrested in another case registered under Sections 302 and 201 IPC, said the officer.
Danish had allegedly tried to burn the body of the girl to destroy the evidence. The investigators found that he was allegedly asking for “sexual favours” from the deceased minor girl.
