1985 batch IPS Sudhir Yadav is new Tihar Director-General
Sudhir Yadav, a 1985 batch IPS officer of the Delhi police, was on Thursday appointed as new director-general of Tihar.

Sudhir Yadav, a 1985 batch IPS officer of the Delhi police, was on Thursday appointed as new director-general of Tihar.
An order issued by the lieutenant-governor announced Mr Yadav’s appointment as the next director-general of Tihar. He was special commissioner (provisions and logistics) of the Delhi police.
An AGMUT-cadre officer, Mr Yadav had served as DGP of Andaman and Nicobar Islands in 2013. After joining police service as an IPS officer in 1985, Mr Yadav went on to serve various important posts of the Delhi Police. The Delhi government had appointed Mr J.K. Sharma as new director-general of Tihar on April 19, but the order was nullified as the government had not sought prior approval of lieutenant-governor Najeeb Jung before the appointment.
A day after taking charge, Mr Sharma had stepped down as Tihar director-general, contending that the AAP government did not seek prior approval from lieutenant-governor Jung for his appointment.
The post of Tihar director-general was lying vacant after Mr Alok Kumar Verma was appointed the commissioner of the Delhi police at February-end after the retirement of former police chief Bhim Sain Bassi.
