A 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 19-year-old boy in south Delhi’s Fatehpur Beri on Thursday. The police arrested the accused, a sweeper identified as Pravesh, on the same day.
A 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 19-year-old boy in south Delhi’s Fatehpur Beri on Thursday. The police arrested the accused, a sweeper identified as Pravesh, on the same day.
According to senior police officials, the incident took place on Thursday afternoon at a farmhouse in Fatehpur Beri. The minor girl is a sister of the driver who works for the owner of the farmhouse. A native of Rajasthan, the girl had come to meet her brother.
An investigating officer said that since the driver had to go out for work, he left his sister behind in the servant’s quarter. Finding her alone, Pravesh lured her to his room and sexually assaulted her.
According to the police, when the girl’s brother came back to the farmhouse, she told him what had happened after which the driver made a PCR call.
The local police rushed to the spot and took the girl to a nearby hospital for medical examination which confirmed sexual assault.
A case under relevant sections of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act has been registered at the Fatehpur Beri police station, the police said. Further investigation is underway.
