‘Why Modi is quiet about Srinivasan’

Aditya Verma, the secretary of the unrecognised Cricket Association of Bihar, has been waging a lone battle against BCCI supremo N. Srinivasan.

Aditya Verma, the secretary of the unrecognised Cricket Association of Bihar, has been waging a lone battle against BCCI supremo N. Srinivasan. Verma’s petition resulted in the Supreme Court’s making a scathing remark on the Board and also delayed the coronation of Srinivasan as the BCCI chief for the third time. Now, Verma has set his sights on another high-profile man, BJP leader and Gujarat Cricket Association president Narendra Modi. The CAB secretary has called for Gujarat chief minister’s intervention in the BCCI fiasco. “There are many things about the BCCI that are being talked about either in the court or police. Yet, GCA chief Modi hasn’t given any advice to Srinivasan. I feel sad about it. I humbly request him to intervene. With Modi being part of the BCCI and if there is any kind of mudslinging on a unit then it affects all in the ring,” said Verma told a TV news service. The newly-elected vice-president Rajiv Shukla had said Srinivasan chairing the AGM was not contempt of court. Verma alleges that the congress politician has toed Srinivasan’s line. “He is one of the strong politicians in the country. That’s why he has been chosen as one of the VPs. Shukla said Srinivasan had not violated the court by chairing the meet. What message is he giving out to the players Is he trying to say that Srinivasan is above SC It’s wrong. I request these people to keep quiet or say things which benefits cricket and BCCI,” added Verma, who had earlier alleged receiving a threat on his life.
